KDDI SINGAPORE LAUNCHES TELEHOUSE SINGAPORE

KDDI Singapore Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Japanese-based KDDI Corporation, a Fortune Global 500 company and the third largest telecommunication carrier in the Asia Pacific, will officially launch its first data centre facility, Telehouse Singapore, tomorrow.

Telehouse Singapore is the first data centre established by KDDI in the South East Asian region. In the late 1980s, Telehouse was first established in London and New York. Today, Telehouse is a world leader in the data centre market and has earned a stellar reputation in Europe and the United States as a major neutral co-location service provider.

Spanning over 16,000 sq feet and room for expansion, the Singapore facility located at Technopark@Chai Chee will be the eleventh Telehouse data centre worldwide. Telehouse Singapore is also the first data centre that is wholly-owned by a Japanese ICT provider in Singapore.

“Singapore’s excellent geographical location, stable economic conditions and conductive business environment has attracted a growing number of Japanese companies and multinational corporations to set up their regional headquarters here. Information technology plays a crucial role in the daily operations of all businesses. We recognize the strong demand for quality, reliable data centre space and services. Building upon our years of experience in the IT industry, Telehouse Singapore aims to combine our data centre expertise, capabilities in global network services and IT systems integration to value-add and deliver total solutions for our customers in a most reliable and competitive manner.” said Mr Shinichi Suzukawa, Managing Director of KDDI Singapore.

The new Telehouse Singapore facility is fully-equipped with stable power supply from Singapore Power from two independent paths, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and privately-owned back-up generators. For efficient power management, the data centre can supply up to an average of 5.0 KVA per rack to higher electricity consumption needs.

The state-of-the-art security facilities, finger vein authentication system and round-the-clock security personnel strictly manage the access of the data centre. Coupled with the climate-controlled environment, fire protection and error preventive systems, Telehouse Singapore offers a most secure location for critical data processing and network equipment.

Telehouse Singapore will provide data centre space through three basic services – rack co-location, caged co-location and open co-location – with a variety of optional monitoring and proxy services. 24-hour technical support is offered in English, Mandarin as well as Japanese. (Please refer to the attached fact sheet for more details.)

Current high quality ICT solutions provided by KDDI Singapore, such as KDDI Global IP-VPN and KDDI Global Powered Ethernet can also be connected within the data centre. With its recent move to Technopark@Chai Chee, the company has expanded and almost doubled its office space.
